Lacka - Toklo 24km

... what the swedish weather forecasters are doing. Nothing about the weather, as far as I can see.

At 9.40am I left my beautiful island Lacka. Until 1pm I had a light tailwind, and I was progressing slowly.

With one gust, the wind changed 180 dregrees, and rather promptly. The sailors around me seemed just as confused as I. After a minute, breaking waves were everywhere, and another minute later, I did not make progress. I was just about to cross large waters, so I had nothing else to do but to cancel. To paddle in these short and high waves with them breaking over the kayak from the side, is rather difficult.

The strand I landed on was very nice, and I spent until 5.45 there. I read a book, took a nap and managed to cover both lunch and dinner. Finally the breaking waves disapeared, and I got back out in a light headwind. SMHI said I had a 3 m/s southwestern wind, and I had a northeastern wind, probably 11 m/s, as far as I could see.

The last four days I haven't quite got the distance. I'm about to do a nasty one tomorrow, let's see how far I can get! Now, a cleaning swim awaits.
