Långrudde - Vapplan 37km

On one hand, I woke up on the wrong side this morning. Second day of grey skies. The wind had not changed to west, rather east, so I had it in my side all day. When the sun came, late afternoon, it was so foggy that I had to use my compass to navigate over the small waters. I tried to make myself a bit more happy after lunch, with plums and sausage, but it gave me only energy to be even more irritated. I tried to look at going into Umeå hamn tomorrow, but it seems like I'd need a good few thousand kilos to do that, a kayak has nothing there to do. Ahead of me, 6 days out of 10 will give headwind, and I'm planning to be done around the 11th. Do I need to mention that motivation wasn't high today, and the paddle strokes didn't take me too many kilometers. At 10.30 I was in the water.

As I crossed shallow waters in a shortcut, a wave hit me with full power. The kayak flipped onto its side, with my upper body in the water. After a few long seconds, the wave let go of me, and I could use a high brace to get back up again. Not even a roll did I have to do today.

On the other hand, It's raining in Umeå today, but here the sun is shining under just those rain clouds. My island is wonderful, and tomorrow I'll only have positive thoughts. I was also visited by a cod fish this morning, while doing my dishes!
